The process is called water ballasting. We increase the weight on the rear tyres of the tractor to improve traction and minimise slippage. The other way to increase the weight in tyres is to attach fixed weights in the rear tyres but that can be costly as one has to buy those weights.
This practice is commonly employed while pudding as wet land farming demands more traction.
