    PENALTY ON BANKS FOR NON- AVAILABILITY OF CASH IN ATM

    Circular No. RBI/2021-22/84 dated 10th August 2021

    • The RBI has formulated the “Scheme of Penalty for non-
      replenishment of ATMs”, to ensure that sufficient cash is available to public, applicable from 1st October 2021.
    • The banks shall put in place a robust system for monitoring the availability of cash in ATMs and ensure timely replenishment to avoid cash-outs.
    • Cash-out at any ATM of more than ten hours in a month will attract a flat penalty of Rs. 10,000/- per ATM.
